      my mentor

Chris was definetly a class act. He was one of the best . He taught me everything I know about fly fishing. I had the honors to take this fly fishing legend on my boat this summer and the memories will always be with me. Chris I'm going to miss you! Thanks for everything buddy!

Captain Chris was lucky to be surrounded be fishermen. He now joins my Dad and good friend Alan (a fellow fly fisherman) who each passed last month. My condolences to the family and friends who mourn. God Bless You!

Sorry dude, I saw your call, among I can't tell you how many others yesterday. Tried to call you back, guess you were working. I'm glad to see you on the site, and we are going to go catch one of those big trout soon. Thanks for posting the picture, I already saved it to my computer. Nice to see him where he loved to be.

I also had the joy of meeting capt. chris, a couple of times. once a few years ago at FTU where he sold me my simms waders, and just by chance wade at snake island. I enjoyed exchanging stories with him. We indeed lost a good fishing enthusiast. He will be missed. prayers sent.

An interesting thougth for those who didn't know him....If you purchase a Top Spot map of Matagorda Bay, the man on the cover with the redfish is Chris Phillips. Mike Williams took that picture about 25 years ago on a 100+ redfish day they shared together. Puts a smile on my face to know that his legacy will live on for many more years on that cover.
