    BigRed I have
    1. Colt Gold Cup Elite SN #10 that is mostly a safe queen these days, worth too much to shoot anymore. However I've got some trophies from shooting her back when I shot IPSC.
    2. Armscor 1911-A1 Tactical that I've customized. Armscor is built by Rock Island but are their top end weapons. This one is sweet and shoots as good as the Colt ever did.
    3. Rock Island 1911-A1 Tactical, this is my main care gun. Very functional, very reliable just not a pretty as the Armscor.

Like JT both my son and daughter have RIA Tacticals that I gave them. My son was an armed guard for a number of years and carried his RIA. They wanted him to go to a Glock or XD but he trusted his 1911, as do I.

Rock Islands IMO are still the best value in 1911s hands down. I never did like the Kimbers as they felt too light to me in my hand.

You Glock guys can keep them, I've shot them a few times over the years and wouldn't own one if it was given to me. As far as them being a better value than a 1911, that is saying a lot. You can get a RIA Tactical for about $600 and then you can further customize it like you want. You spend $50 less for a Glock and that is all you have a plastic gun. Just my 2 cents on Glocks!

Go ahead and say it j.t. Ford trucks have always been superior. Been driving one since the 60's. From Ranchero's to dumpers with a 5and 4 tranny. Now that I have your opinion, I have to consider a Chevy or dodge. One the body will deteriorate in two years and the other in the shop every time you turn around. I'll never own a Tokyo. Too many recalls.

I've had two, a Kimber custom with the extended magazine and a Springfield armory. I have always liked the weapon. But always seemed to narrow of a weapon at the grips. Just seemed to dig in my Palm to much when I shot. So I sold them a few years ago and bought a colt defender .45 and an HK compact .45. The colt defender is just like a 1911but much more compact and wider base at the grips (very nice piece). The HK speaks for itself, that's whats in flounderpounder420 tool box.Click image for larger version

Bountyhunter, I have seen those cold cups, and I wouldn't be shooting it anymore either! I've only shot Kimbers and Colts and am able to hit a 12 inch gong at 100 yards with my pops Kimber so I am partial but I love the feedback! Flounderpounder, I have looked a lot into springfield as well, just haven't talked to enough people about them. Plugger, I'm with you on the no manual safety, it just makes me feel better having a thumb safety.

while we're at it.......another feature I use on the 1911 is the "half cock". That is the SAFEST way to handle the 45, more so than the manual safety. it is impossible for that to fail and fire when on half cock.

I've got a Springfield Mil-Spec, which is basically the same as a WWII 1911-A1. I had a 1943 Remington Rand which was smooth, but I needed money a coupla years ago so I sold it. Problem with me and 1911's is they bite the webbing of my hand. So I installed a beavertail grip safety. Something I couldn't bring myself to do with the WWII gun. The thing has run perfectly with about 500 rounds through it. I've never had any sort of stoppage whatsoever. I know Glocks are good, but life is too short to shoot an ugly gun.

Mg, what you doin' with guns. I thought your people believed they were all evil and need to be outlawed????
From 1970-1997, true heaven on Earth existed on the banks of Bayou Cook. "Hey Dad, Thanks for buying the Camp."

That's ol wifes tails with a little bit of fear and hatred. Lots and lots of dems have weapons.Plenty of them. And we enjoy shooting them and using them. I have a CHL also since the licenses were issued. So does the wife.
However, most dems believe in complete background checks, gun safety and keep the guns outa the hands of the wackos and kids. And as far as fearing our government getting them, they can if they really want them. Face to face with a M1A1 or an Apache gunship or F16 will far outshoot anything we can legally own now. Pray it stays that way.
I still feel that the school shootings and theatre killings by those mentally challenge thugs could have been stopped with gun safety common sense and mental background checks.
AND, I'm also a member of the NRA which is only for gun manufacturers and gun companies. Not us common gun owners. But they fear and hate and swear up and down that the progressives are after everyones weapons.
I carry a Ruger 380 LCP in my sock or pocket, a Makarov in a croutch bag, and a SW 66 in my vehicle.
I also have an Excalibur crossbow that I can use at night. And a pocket knife that I can shave with.
Still looking for Blue Lacy dog to train too.

Should have sold everyone of them when oil was up there. Everyone is down, BUT I also told him to double all the shares that I own now.

Good booze and weed are expensive nowdays.
