I found a decent path to the east side of todds dump ( furthest away from eagle point ) .
From the south end of redfish reef ( huge pile of rocks ) head straight to the gas well with tone. ( nearly straight south )

i try to do a run once a year from Seabrook. Provides a good run for the boat. Takes 50 minutes going 35mph.
Aim the boat from Kemah to Eagle's Point. Pass in front of the marina by 15ft (watch for boats). Head south, you should pass 3 or 4 gas wells on your right. Keep going until you pass all the oyster reefs.. At that point you are good to go. Aim for the end of the dike. It's a nice ride, but typically with south winds the ride back can be a little tiring. Do not do this if there is any chance of bad weather.
Always watch for waves and around the dike to the jetty's you have to watch for the big boats. It can get a little squirrely in that area.Leave a comment:

Yeah , launch at the dike . I've been to the boat cut in my kayak only and that in summer when yahoo activity peaks . Yep , boats barrel through the cut , some slow down as they should . The tides are incoming all day which usually means fishing on the channel side ... Freighter wake side . The east side of the cut has a channel with the north .. Beach side ..... sanded up near the rocks and spreading farther away from the rocks as you get closer to the beach . I can touçh bottom with my paddle in that area but it can be a good area to fish too on an outgoing tide . I don't know about trout and reds activity this time of year but I would like to know . At least you don't have to worry about fresh water run off . You can explore the cut but I think CUDA is right about fishing the sunken barge / ship . But , I'm no expert in the area with a boat .Leave a comment:

I have always fished and anchored on the other side of the cut, opposite the channel to cut down on wakes from passing ships. I'll anchor 20-30yds. off the cut just to be safe. I've had the misfortune of being caught up fishing near the boat pass and some moron come tearing thru (35-40mph)and knock my anchor loose. Had to act fast or I would have been on top of the jetty with the wake he caused. Another boat wasn't as lucky and got pushed up against the rocks close to the boat cut. He at the very least had gel coat damage. A lot of stupid people out there that have no consideration for others, be safe and thight lines.Leave a comment:

what is the best route to navigate from kema to GYC. ( galveston yaght club ) .
one choice is to go straight out catch the ship channel and head south east. I have ideas that is not the best route.Leave a comment:

Take note: huge waves from ships come out of nowhere - even if the ship is far away from you -- and you rarely have time to do much about it if you're anchored.
Great spot to fish at times. You just have to be careful and aware of your surroundings.
All that said, I've been out there in my 18' flats skiff and had no issues. Only on slick calm days for me though.Leave a comment:

Galveston Jetty information
I was considering going out towards the jetties this weekend, and thought maybe drowndind some dead shrimp or cut bait around the boat cut on the north side. I have read here and there about jetty fishing but not finding
the information my be more related to safety. I have a nack of attracting huge wake waves and really not
