I'm hoping to move to the coast next year. I'm wondering how much homeowners insurance is yearly. I'm looking at buying anywhere from Freeport to Galveston Island to Bolivar Peninsula. My estimate house value/loan is approximately 250K. Can anyone give me an approximate yearly expense I should expect? Thanks for your time.

Mine with USAA went down-around $600/year (homeowners only). Windstorm is around $2800/year and my Flood (NFIP) is around $4000/year but I'm grandfathered and downstairs is covered; otherwise Flood would be around $1500-depends on base floor elevation and flood zone rating.
Go to the FEMA site or google NFIP Rates-there's even a map showing what zones are where."Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. fema site for flood zone, Galveston county is going to cost more than harris county. I live 3 blocks from water , not to bad , but my kitchen floor is 20MSL drive way is 6MSL . Cars, boats and RV all have named storm insurance, if they name it, I need to get that stuff out of there to higher ground. No sure just where yet.

My wind is $1,400, my flood is about $1,700, and homeowner's (Texas Fair Pan) is $900. I've about the same worth, but mine is "new" construction (finish floor above flood and structure and windows 110 mph rated). My flood zone just changed for the better, Robalo's flood zone is deeper than mine.Originally posted by Robalo View PostMine with USAA went down-around $600/year (homeowners only).
