So......when do you expect to get your boat back, Henry? I thought almost all new gas tanks were vinyl nowadays. I have a spot for you in my boat or Eddie's if your repairs get delayed. We are planning some wade trips if the weather breaks soon.

Thanks John , you are always so gracious in offering me a ride along in your boat . They haven't given me a time frame for repairs yet but I imagine at least 4 weeks . I have my kayak but shoot me a message if you plan on a trip and have room for me .

Nice gesture, Capt. Blue. Plugger's a joy to fish with and exchange philosophy. Hope I'm on the boat.

Plugger-I'm on my 3rd tank but my boat is older than some of the folks on here. make DARN sure they put a coating on it and seal the dang tank. My original tank crapped out in 2007 (likely partly due to that GD ethanol in gas). My tank is in a coffin box under my deck and the coffin box has a drain so if saltwater gets into it, it's spota drain-that works fine until drain gets somewhat clogged and that's likely what caused 2nd tank to look like swiss cheese-and the fact the 2nd tank wasn't coated, so between the saltwater it sorta sat in and the water corroding (ethanol) the aluminum tank from the inside as well, I just put in a 3rd 120 gallon COATED aluminum tank and added a second drain from the coffin box to the bilge (1987 robalo). The second tank was NOT coated and lasted about 5 years so make sure they coat the tank or in 5 years plan on another tank!!!!! My second tank was around $4000 and 3rd tank I got a little cheaper-2nd tank was original mfg tank that Redwing knew where to get but darn it, it wasn't coated. Also, some tanks are 'foamed in' meaning they use a closed cell, waterproof foam (high dollar stuff) to hold it in place and that foam is a PITA to remove later if ya gotta replace the tank-most tanks are strapped in and those straps can also cause wear/rubbing on the tank. Good luck!!

By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. I had the same thing happen to mine...Cobia 174.... tank leak, no access, was going to have to cut through the deck, etc. Instead I moved my trolling motor bateries up front(easy) and bought a tank online, put it under the console like a lot of CCs have. A bit of work but for about $300 I have an entirely new fuel system. I was able to get 28 gal tank in with some fiddling.
