Today marks the anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima. My father landed day one on Red Beach with the 5th. Marines and witnessed the raising of the flag on Mt. Suribachi. He survived to fight another day. Please take a minute today to think about the thousands that did not.
I will visit his grave today in memory and have a whiskey for him this evening.
