  • Shallow canal issue

Any of you folks know how to remedy a shallow canal? I'm in Jamaica Beach and the canal behind my house has become quite shallow because the bulkhead from the lot next door is virtually gone and sand from the lot is washing into the canal. I can't find any guidance online. If you've ever heard of this I'd like to know how to solve the problem. I can't imagine I am the only one who has ever had this issue.

Thanks for sharing what you know!

The neighborhood association will have to remedy the issue by dredging. If it's an inconvenience only to you then I would imagine they probably will just say sorry, we're not dredging. Other than that be careful.. There are quite a few clean water act regs and other state and local statutes that could apply if you go to do something yourself.
    Shut up and FISH!!

Big Boat and propwash the heck outta it??? Pump and rod/piping and either suck it out and build up low spots in yard or push fine sediment down the canal??
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

I don't know the regulations, but maybe the property owners along the canal could pay to have it dredged. It wouldn't be to expensive, if they will allow it.

.....agreed! ought to be plenty of shrimp boat owners that could use a little extra cash.
