If I have the energy Saturday morning, I plan to check out the 61st street overpass(?) that separates the two areas of Offatts. I'm told Reds await in ambush as the tide brings baitfish under the road. Conditions should be good enough for this geezer to paddle out and try my luck. At least I won't have far to go for bait. Think I power up my depth finder to learn some about the deep side of Offatts. I've got to go check out a proposed launch site, but I plan to enter behind Valero off Heards -- where the Duck Tour bus enters and exits. That way I can work the bait shops going and coming. I'm not sure what bait shops do with what can't be sold, but my guess is that the stuff is thrown out the back, providing a steady food supply? Lord willing, I'll be launching around 6 a.m. Saturday when the tide is supposed to start falling. Anyone want to join me?

I would join you but i can't go out until Sunday. I would launch at the boat ramp on 61st and go under the bridge, follow the shoreline throwing up to the rocks as close as you can get and start working a chartruese soft plastic. If you don't get into some trout/reds move to the shallow area which is closest to Broadway and work the drop off starting up close to shore and working your way out. Good luck out there!

Can't do Sunday until after 1 p.m. (gotta feed my wife after church). Didn't go Saturday a.m. Waded 103rd street instead. Was able to reach the reef and work it on a falling tide, but I saw very few signs of life and didn't get a nibble on Gulp minnows and shrimp. Tried them on a dropshot rig and a popping cork. Nothing again. Likely I'll go back to 8 Mile's multiple reefs the next time wading.

Termo,
Why not we go with Rusty to Jumble, where we went as a group a while back. Think that might be good now? Maybe Bruce can join us, too.

What a diverse bunch of characters THAT trip was!! I loved it. Let me see how everybody feels about another wade, 'cause I'm sure up for it if they are....I'm not sure of the success of Jumbile right now, but if it sucks, I have some other pretty good wade suggestions in mind for this time of year. I can think of about 10 people from here that would probably show up if we said we'll be going for a beer afterwards! HAR!Captain, Galveston County Blue Team Fish Killers

Rusty would get a kick out of the group. He and I went out to the park and Oak bayou, last year, and had a good time, though the fish didn't join the party.
