      My lil one stayed a month in nicu also,she would nurse but not swallow ,I told them hell after the way that nurse was shoving that hose in and out of her throat at birth .I don't think i could swallow either !

          I told them hell after the way that nurse was shoving that hose in and out of her throat at birth .I don't think i could swallow either !
          By the way, there is no "gentle" way to insert a feeding tube. You want food in the belly, you need it in. Even more important in a neonate that will deteriorate fast with no nutrition. I agree, tough to see as a parent though. Sounds like she is well now, guess they did a good job.

              It wasn't a feeding tube , what is the procedure when the baby comes out that they clean the passageway out with ? DOC ?

                      I googled it . No special name , just suctioning out amniotic fluid from the newborn's mouth and nose .
