Since I live in Houston my fishing trips are not as many as I would like throughout the year. I think I plan more than I fish. And on one of these planning days I'm looking for new tackle and lures online and run across these lures that had a strong resemblance to a local lure makers lures. Finally got around to making my rounds to Academy and bought some to compare, can't tell one from the other at a third of the price.

It's a bit a long story. Chickenboy acquired the production rights for the baits years ago. Why and how the company started reproducing the baits isn't clear to me.
The short story - you won't find a better guy than Chickenboy. He's local, his customer support is out of this world and he supports our tournaments very generously. Buy Chickenboy."Shut up and jerk your croaker" - James Fox

China made lures don't last on the hook. Growing up I fished with a certain Cocahoe minnow rig that would last all day on 100 trout. They moved production to China and they last 10 fish if I'm lucky. I agree, buy Chickenboy. From 1970-1997, true heaven on Earth existed on the banks of Bayou Cook. "Hey Dad, Thanks for buying the Camp."

Went out early this morning to trinity bay and tried these lures and they held up pretty good through out the day and just used the one lure of each color I used and still usable(only one fish worth keeping but released her). I'm not telling people to run out and buy this over the other fellows lures but are a good alternative for this style of lure. Just some FYI for the savvy angler."It was the Law of the Sea, they said. Civilization ends at the waterline. Beyond that, we all enter the food chain, and not always right at the top."

Now that's a true test im telling ya!! 100 trout a day on 1 bait vs 10 a day!!! Since I'm trying to make the itchy switchy over to arties from the time honored and true tested live bait(shrimp/mudminnows) I've gone almost a year on the same plastic bait from Chickenboy but mine wear out from sand, gravel, rocks and stupid snags. Not from trouts or redfishes. They do last for sure in my conditions!!Originally posted by coachlaw View PostChina made lures don't last on the hook. I see I'm not the only one that bought them to see how they worked out but just have a difference of opinion on how they held up. This is good!!Originally posted by westbaytroutassasin View PostTheyre crap........ Chickenboy is quality and local......
