We awoke at 3 am to the sound of our house alarm going off . Our 22 year daughter who sleeps upstairs came into our downstairs bedroom and stated someone had tried to get in our house . Upon inspection we saw our back french door window kicked in and glass 20 feet into the house . She had been awake in bed and heard 3 pounding sounds before the alarm went off . They took my wife's purse with cash and credit cards . They had to open the driveway gate to get to our backyard . They first went through my unlocked truck and bed , the garage as well . Our daughter saw a early model perhaps Mercedes pull away from our driveway entrance . I lost some gift cards and a tactical knife from the truck . Police thought it was brazen to open the driveway gate and break in with 2 vehicles in the driveway and one on the curb . An elderly man was beaten and robbed in his house in the last few months. Same thing with an elderly woman . Thank God , it could have been much worse . The glass breakage alarm scared them off after a quick snatch and grab .

Glad you & your family are Ok. That's some scary chit, that you never see coming. I'd recommend a 7' steel roll-gate and a big dog on the back porch.

Bastards. Too bad you didn't get to put a bullet in one. Glad you guys are all ok. No one should ever have to feel unsafe in their own house. I'd put in a camera system and keep my gun loaded in the event someone ever screws up and tries to do something like this to you again.

A very good friend of mine in Clear Lake area woke up with a guy in his bedroom. His wife and grand kids were in the other bedroom. My friend jumped out of bed and chased the perp downstairs, out the back door , down the driveway to the street, where the guy turned around and shot him in the chest twice. He survived but has never recovered. They eventually caught the guy who went to prison. My buddy was always locked & loaded, but his pistol was locked up because the grand kids were there.
When you wake up with someone in the room, there is NO WAY to know how you'll react.

The gate doesn't lock because the ground has shifted over the years . My driveway motion detection light hasn't worked in 2 months . Time to get those fixed . We have a BEWARE OF DOG sign on the gate . I have a .45 ACP with 15 round magazine hidden next to me , round chambered , safety on . I take a sleep medication and I heard the alarm go off but still drugged and asleep was thinking car alarm . Yeah , one of the cops said the perps were playing a dangerous game .... They could stop some hot lead one night .

There must have been 2 maybe 3 guys . They will keep it up until they get caught . At least they obey the traffic laws . Our daughter saw their left turn signal come on as they turned left off our street . Go figure .

The wife and daughter went back to bed . I'm staying up until daylight . Not likely they would return , but still makes me edgy with just taped plastic , a fold up table and some stacked chairs between us and the outside .
