The last two times in December that I made it down to my place in Jamaica Beach, I noticed that Tucker's bait shop on 61st street was closed. I know that there were some issues a year or two ago with someone injured, I was just wondering.

Yeah, they weren't doing so hot. I would go there because I knew Travis but to be honest, their dead shrimp was always crappy and old.
The injury was the older bro getting in a car accident in Hawaii and messed up his hand. Don't think it slowed down the business any. They did have a benefit for him a couple years ago that I went to.

Agreed on that. I liked them for the brown hop-o-matics. Gave a fat pint and wouldn't complain if I wanted them to pick out the big ones and replace with the same volume of smaller ones. They got some loyalty from me one morning when no one was flying the white flag but 'ol man Tucker spent a few minutes dragging the net around the tanks to get me some since "they always saved some for the locals".gave a good measure on the shrimp

Also, anyone noice that "Bayou Bait" I think it was (one of the last ones before 61st coming onto the island), or maybe it was "Uncle Buck's", is now a moving company? That one was nice because they stayed open late. Not a good year for bait camps I guess. All you "arti" purists are putting them out of business, haha.
I wonder if the lower cost of gas will lower the live shrimp prices but I really doubt that.

I bought shrimp & off-shore bait from Wayne in the early '80 when he was on the feeder @ Offats. I know he had throat cancer & surgery several years back too. He's a good guy, although I haven't seen him in years."GET OFF MY REEF!"
