With braid, I feel the bite on the fall. I never did in the old days, But in the old days, I had a fiberglass rod. Was it the rods fault or the lines fault ? I could do a test, but in 2015, I will use braid, fluorocarbon leader 5ft long with a blood knot connecting them, Norton quick-twist. It works for me.

Thats exactly the same rig I use kenny for my soft plastics and corkeys. I use a mono 15# blue/clear to flouro ultra clear 20# for top waters. It seems to relax the bait in the water and give it a much more natural presentation. You seem to see more of a fluid response. Again I guess its all personal preference and habits. Most people find one thing that works and thats that. Im always open for advice though. If I can learn from anyone about catching bigger trout. Im all ears.

Thanks for all the responses. This has been a great thread...sounds like many different approaches are used. I'll just experiment with a few and see what works for me.
