Left the dock at 7:00 this morning to fog and misty slop. Temp was 48, wind 8-10 from the NW, water temp. 52.7 degrees. Stopped at my first spot-no luck, moved on to another site, no luck. Got to the third spot at 9ish and could feel the fish pecking at the bait (plastic), but couldn't get them to eat. Knew they were there but not eating, so I moved off slowly and hit a shallow reef. Picked up a nice red and a gator trout and thought things were picking up. Wind had died down to calm and it cleared up a little so I returned to the pecking spot at about 10 and it was like night and day. Landed 7 nice trout (17-19") in just a few minutes. I noticed a huge bust on the surface in the area, so I trolled over and tied on a pink Corky and BOOM-three trout 20" (picture for my journal), 22" and 23"-then they either moved or quit biting, so I came on in. Released everything including the fish in the pic. Total 11 trout-1 redfish. I honestly wasn't looking forward to having to post this morning 'cause I thought I was in for a skunkin'!

Good going Termo!!"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

I work a Corkie under 55 degrees water temp with a few very small quick twitches till it returns to the surface and I let it flutter down till I think it's near the bottom and repeat. 90% of the time the trout will pick it up on the flutter as it sinks. I am using a suspending Corkie Fat Boy (with the orange color under the lip of the bait). It sinks slowly with a flutter. I also like menhaden ProCure on the bait. Over 55 degrees, I work the bait faster, but basically the same sinking pattern.Originally posted by FlyPelican View PostWhile you're answering questions...just how slow are you working that Corky? I can't seem to figure out how to fish that dang thing.Captain, Galveston County Blue Team Fish Killers
