  • The tide turns on the Ghost Camp

Thought I'd start a new post for this. I've got about 40 pics, and I'm posting 'em all.

I started writing a full report, but there's just no way I can do any justice to these past few days. I'll let the pics speak for me. One thing I must do is thank everyone who made this possible. 007, 2112, VJER, Primer, Ibtsoom, WillieP, and Kylie Howard . . . . . I can't thank y'all enough for getting this done. Of course I have to thank all the other folks who made this possible by coming out and hacking away at the place over the last 8 months. It would be impossible for me to list you all, but I hope you can all take pride in seeing this happen. Like Mike said, this was the day the tide turned at the Ghost Camp. It's looking like we'll actually get this done. I'm overwhelmed by the help I've gotten from FWE.

The next work trip is scheduled for January 9th and 10th. We only have 4 weekends left until the Feb. 1st deadline, so plan to be there if you can. When this is over, we're gonna have one heckuva party.

                  Thanks to Walker

Got a Christmas present in the mail the other day from Walker. I couldn't very well leave the camp today without putting it up. It's his British Virgin Islands pirate burgee. We're proud to fly it beneath the Stars and Bars.Thank you Walker!

I think I should also explain the flag we're flying in these pics. Those of you with attention to detail may notice it's not the usual Stars and Bars. This one was flown by the Magnolia Rangers. They were the cavalry charged with guarding our section of the coast. Yankee blockade ships would sometimes attempt landing parties to forage for food and fresh water. It was this cavalry that kept an eye out and responded when they did so. The center star is larger and I think you all know which state it represents.
