  • My Lake Okeechobee Report

Here is my written report for my day on the Holy Grail and it will always be a day to remember. It is going to take some time to get the video edited and since I'm still in Florida I don't have my editing software. Plus I'm not going to release the video until the Pro that took me has fished his tournament. Don't want to ruin his chances at getting in the money. BTW I beat him this day and he learned what I was doing so maybe that will help him out....

Great job on your blog and good job on the catching!
The Big O is absolutly the most fishy looking place I have ever had the pleasure to fish and it should be on every fisherman's bucket list! As you said it looks like there should be fish every where. I lived in S. Florida from 89 to 91 and fished it several times. I did a lot of flipping in the reeds on the north end around Monkey Box (nothing like a big girl on 6 to 8 feet of line). One of the old time baits that also produced for me was the Johnson Weedles Minnow spoon with a split tail chartruse plastic trailer worked fast over the grass, it was like a top water being blown up when they would attack it. Now that I think about it 1989 was the Old Times and the bait was still highly regarded, it was before the various 4 blade spinners or soft plastioc swim baits of today. Sounds like your trip to the "Holy Grail" was all you expected.

Not a lot different from fishing redfish, flounder and trout really. Guess you will have to tag along on one my bayou trips.

A tad over zealous to fish that lake . Now , go back and let the surgeons remove the brain surgery apparatus . Wishing you a speedy recovery .
