  • skunked , two weekends in a row

    Fished all the normal spots from kema to eagle point, not one thing, did see a sailboat that is now a wreck, I bet it was the one
    from last weekend that caused lots of radio chatter. easy to see , near eagle point.
    so SKUNKS for me and the kids . but they had fun anyway and so did I . I guess that is the winning ticket .
    dead shrimp, couldnt loose one . anywhere.
    WATCH OUT FOR THIS
    Obstruction above water , will ruin your day.
    depth 8 feet, looks like twisted pipe above water say 2.5" diameter

    lat="29.51330186"
    lon="-94.91740619"

          Wow , you fished dead shrimp on the bottom and nothing ...not even stolen bait ? That is odd . Not your fault . They still may be eating thanksgiving left overs .

            Yes , yes he has ... Many times , more than he would like to admit . If records were kept about such things , he would be at the top of the list .

              I have been sticking to dead shrimp, I like to fish for anything that pulls , mostly I throw everything back . Wife loves the redfish so we will keep those if in slot range. Specs , have not found them yet . not likley on dead. I bet it is my timing , noon before I get out.

                We've all had times like that, but they're what makes the good days special.

                  I was up at 5 am with intentions on going out for a little skunk and daylight came and so did the rain. Better bite tomorrow and all to myself.

                    Been there and done that numerous times. And it won't be the last. That's why they call it fishing and not catching. Lord Bless.

                      Well, I thought i was on a roll, there have been many summers where I could not get more than a hard head to bite. At that time
                      it was about 3 weekends a year to fish down here, now that I live around here, I have more chances to drown a shrimp.
                      I am very blessed on fish since Oct. no complaints, I was hoping I could put new son-in-law on something, he has never caught saltwater anything. The fish gods may make him work at it awhile. For me, it makes you work harder and learn your area.

                        The late start in winter is actually a good thing . Find a mud flat near deeper water on a sunny day where the mud has been exposed on a low tide . As the tide comes in during the afternoon fish will be attracted to the warmer water as the mud releases the stored heat . Live bait under a popping cork would be your best bet .
