Spooled , bend hooks and leaders

Got out today about noon, worked the shallows on both sides of the kema channel nothing, on dead shrimp. We to one of my spots from before, nothing, tried something new 8 feet deep. spooled, NO ****.. Got wife fishing again and now she has it , end up with
both hooks on the leader bent after a fun brawl , Got out my shark leaders with circle hooks, I fix you .. and I did , 26 in red. nice
and fun on a zebco 808 I think they are. Wife got something else and it ripped the leader snap out. Fun, I dont mind getting runs and
it tears the crap out of your equipment kinda fun. After that all happened within an hour, it went dead so we moved around and found
a few drum released , and croaker all released. I think i will give up on that old platform straight out 5 miles from kema, nothing biting
there last three times , So now I have several bent up hooks, blown out leaders and a zebco that may never have drag again. Sounds like ill have some stories to last through the winter.
Its taking me a long time to learn the neighborhood but I am starting to be able to get something to bite nearly every time out of kema All in all great day, fish in the freezer and two new waypoints. One named break-off and the other is osyster1 , oysters stuck in ancor along the way.
Outriggers was i high gear when we came in, Great fun to watch them watching you as you putput back to the ramp. I tried to get wifey to show the girls , didnt work. Maybe next time.

Lol. Gotta love the old Zeb's. It's always a mystery when you hook up if you're going to land the fish or not. Still got a couple in the garage on eagle claw fiberglass rods.

Thinking about zebco, some are crap, some are good, seems that the package deals for catfish seem to be ok. I have been fishing off the beach and out of a yak and that environment is hard on everything, zebco does ok. flip your yak, pour clean water on zebco and it comes back to life, if not, throw it in the can and go get another. Wife likes to fish and can run a zebco pretty good, I must say they have a great sound when the drag is pulling away so fast, I wondered if the plastic tie wrap was going to gold the reel to the pole.
Just for the record, my off shore reels are pen 3.o and 4.o no level wind. So im rigged more for application.
