Thanks for posting. One never knows when this will happen and it is good to know what to look out for, especially when we are on or around the water so much!!! I never knew this...

Great info but I swim really well. Never have tried it with waders and wade boats though.

People drown yearly in Texas wearing waders. Some times it's stepping off into deeper water, or like a neighbor here, chasing a boat that came off anchor, but it can and does happen just falling down in waist deep water. When you fall your feet go up and trap air in the legs & feet and you can't stand up. I always wear and auto inflatable PFD when running the boat. My wife gave it to me several Christmas's ago. She said it would make it easier to find the body. Funny lady....

Great advice. I almost drowned when I was young. The Good Lord saved me. It's a feeling I will never forget. That's why I wade waist deep. I almost got water inside my waders by mistake. That has never happened again. Don't take anymore chances. Hard lesson learned. Lord Bless.

                    Drowning

Saw this also on 2cool , it really hits home my older brother I never got to meet drowned near Tc city dike in 66 . After two years I was adopted in 68 and mom and dad had me in every swimming class around . Around when my parents adopted me my father along with boots my moms brother started a search and rescue company called can do search !
As I got older friends taught me to surf and wade fish . Mom was always worried expecily when I would travel to Mexico to surf tequila and nextpa in michoacan with my friends like corn dog Sneekypete and SuperSpook ,
One thing I have always did was call mom and tell her if I was fishing or surfing and were and ALWAYs called her when I got out of the water! Now mom passed away three yrs ago and it's weird not to be able to call her so I call my wife now before I enter and when I get out !!!!!
