  • 10/4 PM report- first time fisher catches his first redfish

AWESOME NIGHT! Took a buddy who has only fished 3 times in his life (non of which were salt water trips). I wanted to get him some Surf action, so we started at SLP. The Surf was too rough for him learning to cast and keep his footing so that was short lived. I ended up landing a gafftop and 2 small sandtrout before we loaded up and headed to the bay.
We waded into the bay near Redfish cove as the sun was setting. On my 4th cast- 22 inch Redfish. My friend is so excited and before I can even get the fish netted he hooked into one. A DOUBLE! So I've now got a 22 and 21 inch red in the net- a beautiful sight. We continue our wade and there is tons on action on the water. About 15 mins later i see some trout striking and cast into them. Landed a 17 incher. I was surprised at how fast the group was moving- we couldn't keep up with them. We see some more strikes on the water and I tell my buddy to cast into the middle of it- and he lands a 24 inch Red. Ended up catching a couple more small trout before is started getting too cold (he doesn't have waders yet). So pumped to see him catch his first salt water keepers- Great times!

Great report and good job "hooking" your buddy on saltwater fishing! I bet he gets some gear including waders very soon.
