Need some west end island time in my life, no place like it.. Been going down there since I was a baby.. Hell first time I learned how to ride a bike without training wheels was on the beach of the west end. Def. looking forward to my next trip down..
Wish I could report some! Working too much and I have three kids...one in HS, MS, and 5th grade so that takes some energy...coaching football again this year so maybe get to fish once or twice till November...

I lost the first really big trout I've hooked this fall. Kinda funny actually, I was walking back to the boat this morning and I had just put on a big, pink BaDonkaDonk slow sink I bought on clearance. Was doing some sweeps and not really paying too much attention when I had the take, and was bowed up. Head shaken', drag ripping run. Then the sombiatch came right at me fast (they'll do that! LOL), and came off right in front of me.
Friday 9/19 had scheduled to take the day off and with the weather did not think I would fish. Needed to do some maintenance at the bay house, so headed down around 9:00am. Did a few chores and watched the radar and around noon looked ok. Loaded a few rods and hit the water. Nice day as it turned out, fished the North Shore line of West Bay, winds were calm out of NE, rain had stopped and fished until about 3pm. Caught six keeper trout and 2 slot reds. Not bad for not expecting to fish. Sorry no pics as I released all fish. Caught all the fish on a light cigar popping cork with 3" morning glory gulp ripple mullet. Fish would not hit a one knocker or jig/plastic. Fished in 2-3' of water on the grass line. With work, kids soccer, and dance activities chance to fish lately has been slim...glad I went and was thankful for the opportunity.
Went Sunday , fished way up in a cove with the high tides, caught a few small ones, but all on top waters,so it was fun. Had a monster try to eat the lure while I was reeling in a fish, right by the boat,,early morning, then slow,I came back early, but passed a few slicks that popped up inside the tubes on way back. In between jobs, so I will be fishing more !
I've been a few times recently without anything impressive . I use to post pictures and give a minute by minute narrative of my trip as the veterans here can attest . But I've gotten too tired to do all that as well as too tired to fish all day like I use to do . Getting old and decrepid . Going to be 65 this Friday ... Hint , hint ... Had a premature one August 26 . No wonder I'm worn out with having two birthdays in one year . HAR ! I'll at least do a short unimpressive post next time . Actually I am to fish Thursday with my crew . 40 percent chance of rain in the morning , we'll see . I need to stock up on Geritol .
