Love TX but still have a soft spot for the Pacific NW, beautiful country. Be safe. You couldn't have picked a better time of year to beat the heat.

I've been to Seattle and Vancouver Island several times way back in the 70's . Victoria is very quaint , pot plants hanging from light posts .. No TERMO , Maier , not those pot plants . If you didn't see the Buchart Gardens outside Victoria do so . They had a bagpiper play at sunset . Cool for me with my Scottish heritage ... My fathers parents were from Montrose , Scotland . It's breath takingly breautiful . The ferry ride there alone is wondrous with all the little islands en route . I remember one tiny island with a house on it ...cool . Then they have those big rocky tree covered things they call mountains that are a marvel for bayou city boys . Eat some pigs in a blanket ( pastry wrapped sausage ) and local salmon . You'll be ready for some tex-me when you get home .

Didya see any nuclear subs surface in the Straights of Juan De Fuca ? That's a great ferry ride over to Victoria and a beautiful part of the US on the Port Angeles side. My nephew was born in Bremerton and I always wanted to see a sub shoot out of the water while we were there. The locals sub watch all the time there and when they surface they say its almost unbelievable the angle they come out.

No subs were seen and Buchard Gardens are the most beautiful I've ever seen, even Bellengrath gardens. The ferrys are impressive and the rides were great.
The Canadians are all really happy. I decided it was because there are so few people, and a lot of room to roam.
