    Dang, 21' to the first floor! That's twice as high as mine. I hope you have a landing or two in those stairs!!
    Cross bracing is about all you can do, and that high up you shouldn't hit your head. I'd use timbers on the four corners.

      Mike, did some research on this since I have the same problem. If you don't want to add the wooden cross members there are adjustable cables that can go in your garage that will add some stabilitly.

        Mike,
        i have lived here my whole life....alot of houses on pilings shake there are ways to brace them to minimize that..my first floor is 14ft and second floor around 25 ft
        so i know what you mean...i will x2 on Coe's recommendation on Wayne

          Shaking

          It is suppose to shake! Concrete piling's will move some too but not as much as the wood pilings. In your case the higher you are the worse it will be. They need to be able to move just like skyscrapers, bridges ect. otherwise they will just snap. Believe me, it's perfectly normal for it to move. My first house on Tiki shook when the washing machine was in the spin cycle. LOL Gater

            That is a very good point! That is funny about the washing machine, we just put one in our house on the 3rd floor and it does the same.
