  • Family Vacation.. want to put kids on fish ?

    All,

Heading down to Sea Isle next week and was wondering if anyone would like to share some info on where i can put my 13 and 15 year old on some fish. Not looking for your honey hole, just where they can cast out and maybe pick up some reds or specks. I grew up in South Louisiana and fished the vermillion bay and southwest pass all the time. I now live in Dallas and taking the kidos down to galveston for a few days.

ALSO, Is the seaweed as bad as everyone is saying on the beach????

    Thanks,

I hope so also. But i don't think my 15YR daughter would attempt to fish in the surf. Every since we told her we were heading down to galveston she has been freaking about sharks and jelly fish and SASQUATCH and the ROUGAROU !!!

I agree with barham, there is alot of opportunity this time of year in surf for all types of fish... ( as long as wind isn’t too bad ) good luck & let us know how itgoes!

All.. I forgot to mention that I will be bringing a boat. Not an idea fishing boat, a Yamaha AR240HO, but we will do our best with what we have.

how good of a wake can you get with that boat? easy to ski/wake board out of or are you a tube puller?

you can fish the surf and catch fish without getting wet.

i dont think my last post posted

We can get a pretty decent wake due to the fact that we usually have 8-10 people on board. We typically are tube pullers in the lakes around DFW, when there is water in the lakes. my son picked up wakeboarding when we bought the boat end of 2012 but he injured his knee and has been sticking to the tubes.

Sorry for my ignorance, are you guys talking about the bay side surf or the beach surf? I have been reading the forum, i see alot about the ship canal around alligator point, chocolate bay, jubilee cove. What is it like to run across the bay? does it get really choppy? are there reefs i should know about across the middle if i were to run out of sea isle across the the ship canal?

                    Thanks in advance.

cool. I seen one in Canyon Lake but he was just tied up and I never saw him take off. They look roomy and sit higher in the water. That's why I was wondering about the wake.

the beach surf. there are some reef's in westbay you need to know about before just running all over. A good map will show where they are at with the gps coords.

Yes, plan on picking up a Hook N Line Map of West Bay as soon as we arrive. BTW, here is my rig if anyone sees us on a reef, please come and help us !

The package is a Tuscany Concept One. It has a 6" procomp lift. If you google "tuscany concept one", they offer some pretty nasty packages for all types of truck. Mine is a 2011 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab.
