      Anybody can get vibrio, and if you're on the water any at all, you've probably come in contact with it...it's those with weekend immune systems that it hits the hardest. You must have a pretty good immune system Bruce...and glad your okay!!

              Glad you caught it in time. Someone needs to come up with a magic pill or vaccine you could take beforehand to keep from getting it.

                All the scotch in his system suppressed the vibrio enough to give him time to get to the doctor.

                    what's a weekend immune system? I think I have that cause on the weekends, I'm immune to anything.

                          I fished out of the boat with my wife on Friday 2 weeks ago. Saturday my son and I went to Skyline Rd near Dollar reef to make a afternoon wade . about 60 yrds. into the water I slipped on some rocks I couldn't see ,I layed my leg open badly , back to car and onto Urgent care for 5 stiches sat eve, Sunday Eve I started getting chills and a fever , off to St Johns ER room , antibioctics and they admitted me. on wed of last week they put me on Vankomycin to stop the staff infection, home on Friday and resting all this week, hoping for a release this thurs, watch those open cuts in the water lot of bacteria . this is my 3rd staff infection in 20 yrs in water .

                                I ran across this recent article while searching for information to send to a friend. Thanks for posting Bruce, I sent him the CDC's information so he can keep an eye on his son as he attends a sea camp this week.
