  • Anyone want to do some horse tradin

    Hey hey Brew Crew
Me and Kenny have been wanting to get a little bit offshore and catch some kings or anything else bigger than Trout and Reds. I have a 21' Bay stealth and though its a good boat and pretty stable I tend to not make it any more than a couple of miles off the jetty. So with that in mind would anyone be interested in taking me and Kenny on a day cruise in some deeper water and ill hook you up with a few trips around the bays chasing tales or hitting some wade spots. Send me IM if interested.

Wait for the right day and run your boat out. Leave a float plan with the family, take extra gas and go for it. We have gone out in 18-20' boats for years.

      Thanks Kenny
Summer is the best time for doing this. I think im going to go for it. I don't have a VHF radio on board so im going to invest in a hand held. Ive got a very good GPS Chirp so no worries there. I guess mainly the reason I was wanting someone to take me is I was going to beg to borrow their gear as I don't have a lot of heavier rods. if I ask my brother to borrow his gear I will have to take him.

Go short trips until you learn how the boat handles in the water away from the jetties. Just make sure you have all the extras on board for emergencies. Float plan for sire. You can search this site for offshore/nearshore posts also. Good luck and have fun!

Well, I guess I've been doing it wrong. I go 15-20 in my 18 foot bay boat and always turn my motor off.

If you tie up to a rig, you have to shut it off. Same thing as on the bay, just a few miles offshore. Make sure all is in good shape before you go.

I have shut down also and used the current to drift. But that was when I owned my contender. Is there a reason not to shutdown?
