A cool head here would have gone a long way. Call the game warden thats what they're for. I carry my side arm everywhere but I would never even think about discharging it over anything other than an immediate life threatening situation. The shrimper and the kayaker are both very lucky. This could have gone much much worse. Keep it cool even in the face of stupidity. Its just not worth it.

Most gulf shrimpers do not use rope, they use steel cable. Be kinda hard to cut one with a knife. Can't imagine what the kayaker was thinking to paddle out to a shrimper and keep up with him...bad news either way.
