Question about South Padre Island

I have never been before but I am going with a group from Tacomaworld forum.

Some of us are wanting to go deep into the island like all the way to the Mansfield channel but I was wondering.
Are there mile markers? Areas like little shell and big shell?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

The plan is to fish the rocks and then set out shark rigs at night in a prime area.
I also plan to fly and record with my DJ1 Phantom so you know a killer vid awaits.
