  • Report for East Bay (Smith Point area)

Well got down here about 630 tonight got lines in the water by 730... Fish count for the night is 2 gar approx 4 ft each, 2 reds 21 & 24.5 and 1 spec 15..... Not a bad evening in my book all caught on live mullet in 3ft of water or less. Water is a little muddy but not to bad. Got to do a little work around the house and check a few things on the boat and hopefully will be on the water tomorrow afternoon. I'll be sure to keep y'all updated

Smith Point and the east shore of Trinity is a fine area for some good fishing this time of year. Thanks for the report.

I would keep an eye out but I won't be in the boat got about 2 miles from the boat ramp and started getting an alarm on the motor so.... Needless to say I was pissed since it was the boats first trip since I got it and supposedly Ron Hover in Katy went over it " top to bottom " when I bought it less than 2 weeks ago. So I'm taking it back on Monday so they can hook it up the computer and find out what's wrong with it.. They said it could be anything from a $10 filter to a $1,000 oil pump so I'm hoping for the best.... So anyways I spent the evening with a couple cold ones fishing off our dock again it was slow but caught 1 16inch spec and 1 26.5 inch red both on live mullet. Going to make the best out of the weekend and hopefully catch a few more off the dock will keep y'all posted

Yep. Not as many bones as mullet either.

Well the saying when winds from the east the fishing is the least was very true on the 4th but still manage to pick up 1 15 inch spec... Hopefully today will be better... Spec was caught in 2 ft of water slightly muddy on a mud minnow

Well this last week wasn't the best fishing trip seeing how I had to put my new to me boat in the shop after only going about 2 miles... struck out completely a couple days one of those days was even a strike out on hard heads.... but still had a blast didn't catch many but caught a nice variety... the catch over 9 days include 2 gar, 4 reds biggest 26.5", 3 specs biggest 20", 2 gaftop, 2 whiting , 11 croaker, 3 sting rays, 1 spinner shark 32", 1 triple tail 20" (caught in approx. 12" of water Saturday night), 1 flattie 18.5" and approx. 50 hard heads.

All fish were caught off a short private dock in less than 3 feet of water.... The water was pretty clear with great color... tide level was very low for this time of year.

Also had 2 crab traps out caught approx. 75 crabs... I only keep males and kept 32 and a few of those were impressive in size.... Also caught 2 stone crabs but I don't mess with them I just turn them loose...
