Back in the early 70's, my father in law and I would spend just about every Saturday night on Rooster Collins pier down on SLP. What ever became of him and his pier? I've looked on Google Earth and cannot see where there is anything left of his baithouse or pier. I assume a couple of hurricanes may have washed everything away. Lot's of good memories of that place.

Ooooouh yeah!! I also do too!! Great place to catch fish and hangout back then. I can't for the life of me find the "boilers" either now and cant quite remember the exact location. That was an even better place for specs. I'm gonna drill down on Google earth and see if I can spot both!! Development and hurricanes and time all take their toll!!"Nobody's so poor that somebody can't get rich screwing 'em."

I think I came across where I think you guys are talking about looking at some historical imagery. Mostly was broken up back i 2008 when Ike(?) hit the Galveston area as you can see in the picture below from early 2009. There was another pier that was also in the same location from the 1960's or 1970s until the late 1990's/early 2000's. The picture below go from 1943 -2009 so you can see just how much the pass has changed.

What you have is the old SLP pier on Freeport side. Ike got rid of that one for us. Rooster Collins was on Galveston Bay side right before you got on the toll bridge. His was an L shaped pier that was maybe a foot or two above the water.Hello, My name is Anthony, and I'm a Chocoholic.

Antnee, I believe this was his place. Gonna check with some BOI's next time I'm down that way but it appears it was close to where we used to beach net on the far end on the Gulf side.
Now, I'm trying to spot the old "boiler's" on the Freeport side. I remember fishing the pass when they were pouring the piers for the bridge and being excited to fish both sides without the drive around or bumming a boat ride across."Nobody's so poor that somebody can't get rich screwing 'em."

I can't remember that. The bridge was always there for me. All I remember was if you were coming in from Galveston side, you pulled off to the right just before the road started up the bridge. I can see the inside of his bait house now just as clear as a bell. But I can't remember where it was located once we left the road.I remember fishing the pass when they were pouring the piers for the bridge and being excited to fish both sides without the drive around or bumming a boat ride across.Hello, My name is Anthony, and I'm a Chocoholic.
