I don't think heather would like camping on N Deer. I know she's tough but I don't know.

I'm not sure if in that tough! Maybe I'd check it out in late fall but anytime soon I'd have to track down a gator and rub myself down in its fat .
I'm not being paid to go survivor man out there so I'll just try to drop the crazy ideas for now.

Doing an afternoon trip, she's not sounding too adventerous. Will probably fish highland bayou and then see if she wants to stay.
          Report tomorrow.

HAR ! Now , North Deer Island is an original thought ! But , the police / coast guard would probably be alerted to investigate a wildfire or distress signal fire from your campfire . Actually , I think N and S Deer Islands are bird sanctuaries or something and one is not suppose to be stomping around on them . I have considered spending the night on my boat . Catch a sea breeze , see the stars , night fish , roll off the boat in my sleep and drown while the Hibachi coals set the boat ablaze as it slips anchor and SYSCO KIDS barge sends it to the bottom of the ICC .

Ha! Hell of a picture you painted there doc! 😃
We would d up in Hitchcock because I figured our tent would blow away if we tried to camp.
Water in Highland bayou was 90 degrees in some places. Lots and lots of bait and had a few slaps but I needed deeper water I think and my fishing partner wasn't up for the paddle. She intertwined herself with hardheads anyway.
Hung out at Louis bait camp /grill afterwards and had a few.
Got Bruce his gear back too so all in all not too bad of a trip.

FYI for future trips. I think North Deer Island is a bird sanctuary and therefore no admittance on the island. Glad you had a good trip.
