  • Memorial Day and You Vets...

    I plan on taking a few days and headed to the island tomorrow for the holiday.

    Just a quick thank you to all our veterans here on WEA.

    Post up if you served! When, with who, where? Thought this could turn into a pretty cool thread...

      Indeed! My parents were both in the navy during WWII, both stateside stationed at Whiting Field, Pensacola. Dad was a Naval Aviator and flight instructor and mom was a paymaster. And my father in law, also Navy, saw action in the Pacific Theater and lost half his crew mates at Iwo Jima.
      Thanks to them and all the rest who did their parts to keep the US and the rest of the world safe!

        US Navy Reserves, Active duty 1967-69. Sonarman, USS Buchanan DDG-14 (Guided missle destroyer). Member of Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 1968. Ship took enemy fire above DMZ. Received major damage to radar gear, no casualties.
