  • New Mexico Angler Arrested for Keeping 1,600 Trout over Limit

We’ve all heard of anglers getting caught with more fish than the legal limit allows, but what just happened in New Mexico is simply mind boggling.
According to a story by Ross Purnell of FlyFisherman.com, a poacher was found with over 1,600—yes, you read that correctly—rainbow trout in his Clovis, New Mexico home. In case you’re wondering, that’s over 160 times the legal limit.
Bounchanh Bounsombath was arrested on Monday and his bond is set at $2,500. He admitted to harvesting the fish from Green Acres Lake and Dennis Chaves Pond.

New Mexico may be different, but are there varying degrees of punishment for poaching here in Texas? You know, like if someone has 4 flounder in November because he's an idiot versus keeping 1,600 fish. The first deserves a fine and a slap on the wrist. The latter deserves to have all his hunting and fishing equipment seized, then auctioned off at a charity event.

Somebody needs to fillet all those fish before they spoil...
At his baptism, Sam Houston was told his sins were washed away. He reportedly replied, “I pity the fish downstream.” - Nov. 19, 1854 - Independence, Texas

Well, when you're an idiot, you're just a plain idiot. Wonder what his real fine is going to be. He'll be paying for a long while. Lord Bless.

By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. $2,500.00 Fine and the State is asking for $8,000.00 in restitution for the trout that they stocked the ponds with.

NM must be different than Texas. Once fish are at your house here, they don't count against your limit. He'd be legal here if he didn't admit to catching more than his daily limit.

                        Am I wrong?

if a Texas Game warden came into you house/garage and saw 1600 fish in ice chest that had not been packaged , frozen, cleaned, yo azzz would be in a heap of trouble

This is the SECOND TIME in two years that the guy has been arrested for this!

A public flogging might be in order.
