So I've heard about people seeing river otters on the coast, but I've never seen one myself. I went out fishing with my brother on the morning of my birthday and saw one walking along the shore. It sits on the beach and munches on something, so I went a long way around and crept up to it close enough for a good look and to zoom in for some pics. Very cool animal, it munched on a fish carcass for a while, went for a swim to wash off, rolled in the sand, and then went back to eating on the fish. I got bored after a while and went back to fishing.

Didn't know of a salt water living otter. Cool pics, sweet looking little guy. I wonder what he would do if you tried to feed him something ? Rip your throat out or mangle your hand ?

Not that much different than a Karankawa indian hunting the shallows at night with a torch and a spear.

we've shot a number of them in some lakes at our place. they are cool to watch swim but those little sheets will wear out the fish in a stocked lake.

Use to see them all the time in the canals of Bayou Vista. They would lay out on the docks and get some sun.
