I am just curious ,as I do not know symptoms and being hard headed, I might not seek treatment as fast .

thanks, I hope she recovers soon
Her foot was sore and was tender to the touch. My mom saw a red streak and decided to take her in. The did some test and it was positivr for vibrio. They started antibiotics immediately. I do not know how big the cut was. I was at 91st street pier catching hardheads when she cut her foot surfing. She did not feel bad and has been eating well.

CNovel, you need to learn symptoms and not be so hard headed about getting treatment as you could lose life or limb due to it...IMHO

Seems like that is why he was asking.

..........You don't have to be wading to catch it. A prick from a fin fish or shrimp can cause it too.

I've heard if you put Clorox on it, it will kill the bacteria. Don't know how true it is, but worth a try. Lord Bless.

My mom said the doctor that clorox makes it worse.

Glad she got immediate attention . Wait 24 hours and that nasty bug can kill you . I too am surprised that vibrio is already present . Dang , I have to keep the danger in mind . I'm the guy that tends to wait and tell myself it's just a scratch . There was a dentist in my neighborhood several years ago that died from it .

You better go ahead and order your bubble now to avoid the rush!

The dentist was a long time back. It was in 2004 that he slipped on a dock. He fished the pass. He was one of the first people that I remember hearing about dying from vibrio. I also think he was immune-impaired. http://www.shortnews.com/start.cfm?id=42111

                                Vibrio Alert!!

I am clumsy and cut or otherwise maim myself with frequency. Recent antics include a gash from a filet knife, stumbling over a geotube, falling on a boat ramp and other hijinx. I keep a bottle of hibiclens nearby at all times and it has kept me safe from infection so far though I do have a permanent scar from the geotube.

I used to be a peroxide man but my wife the nurse told me it doesn't work and actually kills everything in the wound, good and bad. I switched to hibiclens. I miss the foamy bubbles.
