I have been gone for the week and did some good fishing while I was gone.
Started Tuesday after I took my step daughter to the dr for her calf I took the little one fishing. Just went off the shore in Seabrook. She lost a decent flounder at the rocks then nailed a solid trout. We only had an hour so that was it for this trip.
Then Thursday we got in to a school of stripers and also a few smallmouth at Lake Meade.
Saturday was the best trip by far though. Went to a private lake in SO CAL and fished for largemouth. 5 casts in to the trip my crankbait gets absolutely hammered coming off a shoreline in to about 20' of water. She is pulling drag and I can't get her turned. Well she found a tree down there somewhere and got me all wrapped up in it. As I am about to snap the line I feel her tugging still on the other end. We decide to wait to see if she will break free. 10 minutes later no luck and we decide to break it so there is minimal damage to the fish. Then again just as I am about to pop it she comes up and does her best tarpon impression. I reel in the slack and the fight is on(kind of). Get her to the boat and she is looking bad so we do a quick hook out and start to rehab her to get an in water pic of the release...She had other ideas and took off. Ended that day with 35 bass we were guessing the big girl was around 9# and the next biggest was 5-6#.
