My crew of 7 buddies go fish a couple of times each year . We've rented a house in Hackberry Sunday through Tuesday but some may stay longer . Dang front suppose to push through Sunday . We'll try fishing Monday afternoon , Tuesday , pack up , fish Wednesday and head home Wednesday night . I'm considering staying Wednesday and Thursday night , fish until Friday then come back . Projected warming trend Wednesday , Thursday , Friday into the 70's . Me and another guy are taking our boats . Anyone have any advice on fishing Calcasuie this time of year ? Some of the guys know more about Calcasuie than me . We have a good time regardless . Can't wait .

Hey Plugger, you can catch redfish at the weirs on an outgoing tide. I have had the best luck at lambert's It is the last one and has a gate that you can go through to the marsh. Anchor as close as you can( there is a sign telling you how close you can get ) and throw your bait up towards the gate .Also, we have caught redfish on the north bank in West cove. Make sure and have some shrimp, sometimes they won't take plastic. Doesn't matter if they are live or dead. As far as trout , I would hit turners for sure and any other deep reefs that are on the map . I haven't fished there much in the spring, usually we go in the Fall. Good luck and let us know how you do.

I was lucky enough to go on a fishing trip paid by a customer from work around 8 years ago.
It was in April and was fishing with guide Mary Poe. It had to be my best day of fishing EVER!!!
We were throwing white and chartreuse Norton sand eels.
I was using a 1/4 Bass Assassin jig head. Capt. Mary asked "are you sure you want to use that"
After 20 minutes, Rick and her had put 10 trout in the box from 3 to 5 LBS.
I didn't have any bites.
So I asked for one of her's. A round headed 1/16oz. Fish on with the first cast.
We put 30 in the box and moved to a spot holding 15>16inch fish. Hookup on every cast till we filled the box.
She later explained why you use the lightest jighead you can.

Yeah , April was preferred but half these guys are HPD and had a must attend training that put us in March . We plan on fishing Galveston this week when we can .GEORGE A. BRANARD, COLOR SERGEANT, CO. L, 1 ST TEXAS INFANTRY, HOOD'S TEXAS BRIGADE, C.S.A. : S.C.V.

Dale , I don't have to consider jighead weight usually because I'm chunking peanuts and the corky line of plugs . Yes , use the lightest jighead possible because of more suspending time . That's why I use corkys year round .GEORGE A. BRANARD, COLOR SERGEANT, CO. L, 1 ST TEXAS INFANTRY, HOOD'S TEXAS BRIGADE, C.S.A. : S.C.V.
