  • Check your screws

Had a new leaning post and cooler rack installed. The old screw holes were plugged with stainless screws, and that's what I'd expected. After further inspection, I noticed there wasn't any sealant around the head of the screw. In fact, two of the three screws I check were loose enough to remove with my fingers. No sealant was used on any of the screws!
Nothing like having 12 holes in the deck of your boat.

Thanks , but others long ago told me I had some loose screws . Who was the meathead that did the installation ? Others should know .

JZ Custom Rails. He said it was a fluke, and apologized.

How hard can it be to pick up a tube of 5200?

As a consumer, lack of attention to detail like that gets under my skin. I recently dropped $500 large on some boat repairs that was riddled with "flukes".

I would be out of a job if that was the way I treated my customers.

Sorry that happened to you Matthew

There's a couple shops you gotta watch out for that stuff and tell them specificly what you want Like 5200 all the screws.

Mine was put in at Coastline Marine... they did a great job and I didn't have to tell them... that's first rate!

No excuse for poor workmanship, especially in the marine business...just going too fast.
