  • Dollar Point/Moses lake?

Can anyone tell me how its been at dollar point lately? I wade there quite a bit but haven't been in about a month so i was thinking about putting my new yak in the morning. I have never fished moses lake but thought about giving it a try. Any tips on good baits?

Drive down to the end of skyline and if the wind ain't pumping too bad, paddle down to the old pier pilings back to the right a couple hundred yards. Fish that rookery and beyond down that shoreline. If the waters that good green, throw some pearl/ chartreuse soft plastics and you may run into a bite. Good luck!

I haven't looked at wind and tides , but Dollar flats is a springtime place to fish . Once I waded there on a full moon at night , nothing until right before light . Standing at the old pier area , getting light , sun coming up on my right and moon setting on my left , started catching fat 23 inch trout on a mirrolure Snakedancer brokenback floater diver . Landed 5 and lost as many . As the sun got a little higher they pulled out deeper . Wish I had my kayak . After that waders came in and it was over . Two guys near me tossing live shrimp . Finally one said to the other " it's a Wells xxx day and no fish " . It was over and I left . That's Friday . Saturday I'm standing same place , same time , same wind , weather. They weren't there . Go figure .

kdup.....The old pier pilings at dollar point get crowded around spring (as you should know). I noticed that waders were throwing a lot of silver spoons and catching lots of schoolie trout last year. I don't fish there when there are waders present since they are limited in the places they can fish and I got lots of alternatives from my boat. I suggest also launching (or wading in) off Skyline Drive anywhere between the gazebo and the dike and cast as far away from the shoreline as you can throw out (if wading). There's a drop off about 60-80 yds offshore that trout seem to like to like to sit in ambush at. Mosquito Island should be turning on min late April or early May but it will be crowded on weekends. Moses Lake has become so crowded on weekends that the boat traffic keeps the fishing unproductive-plus there ain't a tenth of the fish in there that there were just a few years back. I see kayaker in there sometimes but I don't hear much about them catching. That lake is (was) known for it's mid-lake reefs, which are now overfished and dying. The floodgate still produces a few flounder in the fall and spring.
