I'm pitching a tent in the state park. Any advice? Please
you can camp anywhere on the beach for FREE in surfside or at the pass and fish all night. the water temp just came back up a little so x-mas bay my have some fish in it. good luck!
the fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad.

I about to turn 48. Been hunting and fishing all my life. It's what I was raised on. I have two sons, 10 and 12. Trying to get them into it but they are more into gaming. I've got divorced a little over a year ago after 18 years of marriage. I only get to be with my sons every other weekend, so I'm looking to fill those gaps with the things I love. The times I came down last summer were great. Caught some of this biggest fish in my life there.

My plan is to use a cast net to catch some bait and to also catch some blue crabs. I've heard a lot of good things about the blue crabs and the redfish. I prefer to wade out into the bay and fish. It always seems to hard to decide where to fish on the surf side. Read some about the cuts in the surf and may try that. Some advised to look for the clams/shells on the beach and those are spots fish may hit. I have a jeep, so if you see it you'll know I'm in the area.

Any day out is a good day. I didn't know about the Mardi Gra thing. I guess if I go into town I'll do it in the morning before the hangovers wear off. I guess most of all I'm looking for spots to wade out at in the bay.

Thank for the tip. Where should I park to wade Christmas Bay?

I would park at the former site of Ernie's bait camp. You can walk into the flats to the east. There is also a little channel farther east where the poles are.

Probably too early unless you know where to look. And no , no one will tell you where to look.

Well , dang son , you have been doing fine . Still too cold for trout and reds in the surf but panfish like whiting are around rock groins , sheepshead too . Good eating . The bay is your best bet . The mentioned Ernie's 2 has a boat lane to the left , too deep to cross . That's why go to the right . The " condos " are farther past Ernie's 2 going west . It's a small canal home place but has public access on the west side . You can wade out into Christmas Bay and shell . I'll see if I can get a road name .

Look on google earth , it's the next road leading to the bay . 257m on google earth. . Take a right and it dog legs to the right . Right after that there's a road to the left . Turn there and it goes straight to CHRISTMAS . Park and walk in at the end .
