  • What the heck was that , Sandy !? LOL ! You worked at a club with Sunday morning mimosa specials or awoke Sunday mornings excited to have a mimosa while you fixed breakfast ? HAR !
I'm glad you guys liked the food porn adventure . I'm going back for 3 days in April for a dental convention . The French Quarter is a one of a kind place on the entire planet . If you have never been you should put it on the bucket list . A long weekend barely scratches the surface of things to see , shop , places to eat and just people watch . The NBA all star games started there this weekend and you could tell there was an influx of high class hookers in town . A walk down Bourbon Street alone is worth the admission price . It's the only place I know where you can walk the streets with a drink in your hand any hour day or night and the Police don't bat an eye . You just have to experience it all to believe it . I could write a small book about the things I saw this trip and every trip . I talked to the owner of THE CRABTRAP shop which sells fishing related shirts , hats , pictures and such . He said he had gone fishing an hour drive away and had 60 trout and some reds . I love that city !

    • I worked at several college bars there. Mimosa Sunday started at 6am in all of them. I don't remember ever locking the door at any of those places. I miss home, but my camp blew away there. Work took me to Texas where I found a new one.
From 1970-1997, true heaven on Earth existed on the banks of Bayou Cook. "Hey Dad, Thanks for buying the Camp."

          • Are you interested in a long weekend stay at Calcasuie or just fishing Sabine. ? I'm doing a Calcasuie trip with my cop "crew" . Half of them are HPD . About 8 of us rent a place and fish 3 days . The first time we had guides . Were taking our own boats this time . Arrive March 12 Sunday , fish Monday , Tuesday , Wednesday . Leave Wednesday afternoon after fishing . We're going in March to try for trophy trout . It's a roll of the dice with the weather in March . We got run off the water by a storm one day and cancelled last years trip due to wind . We fished East Bay instead and mid morning got a call from our was to be guide Capt Bruce Baugh who we used our first trip , and he said another group took our slot and they were catching big trout despite the wind . He sent pictures on his IPhone . We were kicking ourselfs .

            • I made a calcaseiu trip last year. Wasn't that impressed. Caught a few despite three days of west winds to 30. Little whaler handled it well but even the live shrimpers had it tough. Not given up. Me and termo gonna hit it this spring if I can get him out of the recliner and out of LaMarque.

              • Did you go and return the same day ? If so you can pick what day to go according to weather .

                  • We ate at Felix's Friday night at the corner of Iberville and Bourbon. The fried shrimp were the best I've ever had hands down!
Yeah, and all the muchachas they call me big pappa, when I throw pesos their way!

                      • Sounds like maybe you didn't stay in the French Quarter , Bigbill . Ideally , you stay in the French Quarter and everything is in walking distance pretty much . You can't drive and park in the Quarter without difficulty . Don't stay on Bourbon Street though or you'll never get any sleep from the drunken racket . The best way is to take the 45 minute flight from Hobby and cab it to your French Quarter hotel . Cab fare was about $30 .
