    Looking at buying a used or new trolling motor for my gulf coast not sure how to determine the shaft length that I need. Click image for larger version

        Measure deck to waterline where it will be mounted and add a minimum of 18 inches.

        Ex. 32"to water plus 18" is 50. So a 54" shaft is what you would get not a 48".

          My boat already has a trolling motor mounted up. I'll save you the hassle and trade you straight.

                  and it's nice to have a couple extra inches to play with ... so a 60 might not be a bad idea.

                    How long is the boat...bow or stern mount? I've got a 60" on the back of my 19' Whaler and I think the hull is very similar to your GC minus the tunnel. I love mine, best option I ever put on the boat...a little pricey when you count the 2 AGMs but I can't fish without a trolling motor now.
