OK, so I put a new trolling motor on the skeeter and it hangs out about 8" from the bow, so now the boat has to be about 8" back from the forward bulkhead/dock; whereas, it used to butt the boat's nose to the dock and lifted alright in my lift, but now because it's 8" aft of the dock/bulkhead, the front strap wants to slide off and drop the bow in the water while the aft end hangs in the rear strap. When I tried to lift the boat last Sunday, the dang front strap started to slide while the aft of the boat kept lifting. My lift is cross-membered by I Beams-sort of the typical, older lifts. I tried knocking the I Beam aftward and moved it about 2-3" after about 20-30 swings with a pick ax like tool (the misses really hurt).
My thought now is to maybe run a SS Cable to tie off the two straps (aft and forward) so they cannot part/slip and they stay a set distance. I tried a rope, but rope stretches too much.
Anyone else had this sorta issue with their straps where one wants to slide off and if so, how'd ya EASILY fix it w/o calling Boat Lift or tearing up your boathouse?
My boathouse is a fully enclosed boathouse-looks like a garage-my house was one of first canal houses in Jam Beach.
Thanks for your input-I can try to post pics after this weekend. It's kinda like putting a 22' boat in a lift designed for a 20' boat.
