I have a box full of old mirrolures that are all scraped up and dull. They still seem to catch fish but they have lost a lot of shine. Is there any way that anyone has found to bring them back?

I've got some over twenty years old. Some have more tooth marks than others and those are the ones that work best.
I don't throw them as much as i used to but the 11, 28, 808, hp, chartruese are my favorites. I take the hooks off and polish them up with rubbing alcohol. I know a lot of folks sneer but i replace my hooks with #4 eagle claw hooks, i don't like #2, too big.

Soap and water and coal oil (Kerosene) was what my daddy used to use.
Only artie I ever in my life tossed was a gold spoon in the surf and I used a dollar bill to shine em up and with orange surveyers tape about 1" long on the treblehook. Bait was always cheaper back then."Nobody's so poor that somebody can't get rich screwing 'em."

The alcohol seemed to work. Thanks for the tip.
Hopefully I can find a small screwdriver to get these hooks off the rest before I clean them. These things are dangerous. I will definitely have to stop bare handing fish if I start using these.

I agree with the alcohol and the hooks.#4 VMC's are an excellent choice also. When I replace them, that's what I use.Originally posted by H.Maier View PostI've got some over twenty years old. Some have more tooth marks than others and those are the ones that work best.

Lol. Spoons are the bomb in the surf. I like silver with a yellow tail next to the hook. Don't get the Bucktails made of rubber the smacks and ladyfish will strip them off quick. A split ring and barrel swivel in front produces sweet action and will not twist the line. Gold with red tail fires up the rubber lips.Originally posted by mgstei1 View PostSoap and water and coal oil (Kerosene) was what my daddy used to use.

I guess the alcohol doesn't melt the plastic . I take the hook and hardware off . Soap , water , brush to clean .at academy get 3M Marine Fiberglass cleaner and polisher . Rub on a coat and let it dry . Wipe off and do it again . Turns out shiney out of the box new . Read it in an article . Works great .GEORGE A. BRANARD, COLOR SERGEANT, CO.
