That howling west wind was a beatch! Thanks Harvey for the boat ride. Got a list of guys I want to get out in my boat (Jeremy, Don, Eddie, Bruce, Henry, you, Robert, Mike, etc, etc.) soon and redeem myself. Told Jeremy earlier that I wasn't going tomorrow, but I may try it just for grins late in the afternoon somewhere close to a launch ramp for a couple hours. For the life of me, I can't figure out this weather and lack of trout in the bay system......I think that with this upside/down tide pattern for the last couple of months, the fish are feeding on the high tide at night on the shorelines. I'll never know since I go to bed when the sun hits treetop level....Captain, Galveston County Blue Team Fish Killers

Dog, I fill you up with good el sombrero Mexican food and you're asleep before I leave your driveway? Lol. No wonder you call me at 4 am wanting to know if I'm up and ready to go.Originally posted by Termo View PostThat howling west wind was a beatch! Thanks Harvey for the boat ride. Great that you all got out and caught some fish. When I had my boat, 18MPH wind was a No No. I've gotten caught with 30+MPH wind while fishing. Coming back to the marina with 5 to 6ft wave is not my kind of fun. In Amistad lake, 12MPH wind starts the white caps. 17MPH don't even try to go on the lake. Couple of co-workers had a tournament at that lake, and they were very scared. Winds picked up to 35MPH, and they thought they weren't going to make it. When they came out, other fisherman told them they lost 7 boats the year before. I didn't loose the boat, but been there and done that. Lord Bless.

Funny Harvey about John with a belly full of Mexican food collapsing into bed before you can back out his driveway ! HAR ! John , you need a bigger boat to take us all fishing ! John , since you go to bed with the chickens and awake at dark thirty , try being on the water at 4 am with a high tide to try some night fishing into daylight . As per my 1-10-2014 report I fished after sunset with no fish while they were biting before dark . I never have done well fishing at night . Maybe pre sunrise would be better .
Once in spring time wading Dollar Point all night , the fish didn't feed until it got just a little light . Triple X day on Wells forecast , moonset at sunrise , and 3-4 pound trout started hitting my mirrolure snake dancer broken back for an hour before moving deeper . About that time waders started showing up . Fish were gone . After a while one shrimp soaker complained about the triple x day being a shame . Ha ! I thought you should have been here earlier .GEORGE A. BRANARD, COLOR SERGEANT, CO. L, 1 ST TEXAS INFANTRY, HOOD'S TEXAS BRIGADE, C.S.A. : S.C.V.
