it will before long im sure. there is a season on trout, how long it is depends on what zone your in. can only keep one red and two flounder a day all year long. wont be able to fish at all there soon. and they have a lot more GW's than we do. I got stopped in my boat every other time I went out.
the fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad.

Im not trying to spark a heated debate here. Sure we all know that funding plays a very real part of the conservation process and their isn't enough. We as people generally never look past the end of our noses, and that's OK. We are only human after all. I do believe the game wardens have a big load. But they do (IN MY EXPERIENCE ONLY) seem to overlook several target locations and don't patrol those areas enough. However, With only 4 in our district and the fact we are a coastal group of communities it would seem that our fine state could afford to put on at least 5 more officers in boats and vehicles to have a stronger presence on the water ways in our area. I live in bayou vista, and I have lived their for 30 years. I am fortunate that I get to fish almost everyday. In that time guess how many game wardens I have seen actually in Bayou vista and in west bay from bayou vista, which by the way is 2 miles from the game warden office..... ZERO, ZILTCH not a one. So we as a community do what we can in a non confronted way to welcome anyone and everyone to enjoy the benefits of theses areas. All we ask is follow the rules and regulations. NO it doesn't begin and end with our game wardens it does take all of us doing our part and sacrificing something we may want to stay the same, but that little extra that will truly make the difference on our fish populations and help us to leave behind a positive legacy for our children and grandchildren. We should be able to look far down the road and see what really needs to be fixed right now without any bias or personnel feelings getting into the mix. Im not some tree hugger by a long shot. But I do have ears and I do here our entire planet not calling but screaming and begging us to make a change and help it. She is all we have after all and it is every single one us' responsibility and duty to protect her and answer her call. If you cant here her, just quiet yourself and really look and listen. The world speaks, you just have to open yourself up and allow yourself to let her speak to you. Passion is not ignorance, to voice that you love your planet isn't a punch line for a joke. it take true courage and honor to stand up against opposition or those that could damage the environment any more. I challenge anyone who reads this to make those little steps such as cruising a shoreline on your way back to the dock and filling up 2 big garbage bags of trash, that piece of timber floating out there that you know you can reach, hey go get it... got a little PVC in the garage, hey go mark a couple of channels for the next guy so his blades don't hack up the underwater structures, Some of you may laugh at this and that's your right, but MY EARS ARE OPEN.

WTF, don't we pay them to protect our bay from this? We don't pay their salaries so they can look good in their green truck riding around.... Get of those nuts and do your JOB.
Not sure where you get your information but you seem to be a little uneducated on the topic. First of all its possible the GW showed up but you were gone and it's also possible he recieved another priority call. If you want a faster response time put this number in your phone 281-842-8100 and call it instead of OGT. That number is to the TP&WD Law Enforcement dispatcher in LaPorte. She has instant radio contact with all the wardens on duty. You can still call the OGT number but it is a faxed based system and can have delays of up to two hours. Galveston County covers over 800sq miles with 500+ being water. There are 8 wardens not 4 assigned to the county, you do the math, that is alot of area to cover even if all 8 were on duty at the same time. Not sure if things have changed but recently the wardens were limited on much fuel they could use to patrol but despite what you think they do not sit on their nuts all day.

8 game wardens to cover all that jurisdiction makes me wonder why the state can't afford a little more money from the budget to enforce regulations pertaining to illegal catches and activities. The last time I encountered any game warden, their was 4 of them ( 2 women, 2 men ) in the same boat, riding in the same truck. It's sad and embarrassing and hard for me to figure with all the fishing and hunting licences sold that the state can't do better. Is that money being diverted to some other agency in or great governors scheme?

Game wardens only get so much gas for the week and its usually gone by the weekend so they dont travel much I know more than 5 of them .

8 game wardens seem like a lot to me. They aren't suppose to be on every "spot" patrolling like a cop on every street corner.

I think they do a great job. At our place in Robertson County, to my knowledge there is only one. Robertson County is about 800 sq. miles. We've always invited them out, given them keys to our gates and welcome them and appreciate them.

The ones I've run in to in Galveston were conscientious and good people. I always get a kick out of people complaining about enforcement when there is probably not one angler on here that hasn't kept an illegal fish or had some other violation either by intention or by ignorance. And just because it was by stupidity/ignorance makes no difference.

yep! fishing licence in florida are cheaper than here and way more GW. you don't even need one fishing from land, only in a boat or somewhere you get to by boat. and yes they check the piers and hot spots on land all the time for illegal fish. TEXAS does spend a lot of money on stocking the bays with fish which Florida is just now starting to do. we still need more GW out there it definitely helps the cause in Florida, I lived there for 12 years and have seen the difference it makes.
the fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad.
