  • Where do I buy a new Mercury?

Went to the Boat Show yesterday to buy a new 125 Optimax. Money in hand. Evidently, talking shop with the other exhibitors is far more important than selling me a motor. Could not get anyone to talk to me. The one salesman that I tracked down gave me a verbal price and did not even ask for my contact info before he walked off.

I am a business owner and if I conducted business like this, lets just say I would not have the money to buy a new motor.

Can anyone recommend a place/person to contact that is actually interested in selling me a motor?

    Thanks in advance.

boat show is for yuppies. if you were in columbia pfg fishing shirt with matching pants and costa glasses on top of your costa visor you would have them talking your ears off.

I agree with Gilbert. Years ago I was looking for a jackplate and all I got was BS from the different salesmen. Best thing I did was buy from Evans marine instead of those Boat show vendors.

Contact Bryan at Evans Marine. BTW, why not go Yamaha-I have mercs and aint real happy with them-seem cheaply made compared to Yamaha. I aint bashing your choice, just been my experience.

By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. I was approached by a lady with chances to win a wave runner. She was a front for a fellow trying to sell timeshares at silver leaf on the west end. After giving him a 20 dollar deposit ( at my girlfriends pleading) for an upcoming ninety minute seminar with no guarantee to purchase, we were promised either a three day, airline tickets and hotel rooms in Vegas, 500 dollar gift certificate or 100 dollar restaurant card to saltwater steak house and other Galveston cafes. We're retired , so no problem going if I can sit througth the presentation without getting bored and walking out. I know these things have been going on forever but until now I've never been suckered in. I'll let everyone know in few days if this is legite or what I think may be just another scam. If you go to the boat show leave your lady at home. I'm not a cheapskate but I spent another 20 on fudge and pralines.

My primary reason for the Opti-max is weight. It is substantially lighter than all of the others and the motor will be on the back of a 22" Panga.

Makes sense and one of my buddies has an old Optimax 150 that keeps on running like a champ.

Try Bryan at Evans Marine-he'll know someone to recommend if he don't sell them-great guy, honest and sponsor here.

Wear them earplugs and get some of those glasses that look like your eyes are open so you can take a nap-and leave your wallet at home and tell em you have terrible Arthur-itis and can't sign nuthin! enjoy-personally, I'd rather watch turtles having sex than suffering thru a hard sell promo.

When I repowered my Whaler in 2007, I shopped hard for both Merc and Yamaha. Price was my #1 concern. The best deal I found was Capt. Kirks Marine in either Spring or Conroe...they had the best deal by far on a 150 Optimax that I could find. I've been extremely pleased with the motor. I can't remember for sure but I want to say at the time it was $500+ cheaper than any one else and I looked from New Orleans to Corpus....

I went by bass pro several years back. They went through their pitch, and we went to Branson Missouri. We have friends in Missouri, so we stopped by and then went to Branson. The price they quoted for the timeshare, was ridiculous. We got 2 free nights there. A co-worker said his brother bought a timeshare years back, and he still can't sell it. I could buy a lot of things and go on vacation with what they wanted. Free Las Vegas trip. Not bad, but don't get into the timeshare. Hope this helps. Lord Bless.

yep! if you have the money to buy one, you have the money to go where ever you want. why be stuck with them. I did one in florida for a free room so we could stay 2 more nights in town to go on the casino boat. will never do that again! 90 minutes turn into 2 1/2 hours and still cost us $20 for the room. I would have rather paid for a hotel than deal with all that BS. lol free trip to Vegas sounds good though!
the fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad.

I'm beginning to think I made a donation to a multimillion dollar complex. Maybe I'll get lucky and win the wave runners so I can sell them. 50 cents on the dollar.
