Anyone know anything about these boats? Son-in law came across a very good deal and boats are supposed to be made here in Texas. 20 footer with 90 evinrude. Looks as if it will get in some skinny water. Anybody got one and care to enlighten me?

Don't they are making those anymore. Not sure but don't think they have made those in a long time. Not 100% positive on that.

I looked them up on the net and it doesn't look like any of the boats I saw there would run skinny. It could be an older model that he found...you could call & ask, best way is to go look at it and if interested, go for a ride, that way there is no doubt.

I think Noah made one when he was working on the Ark.

Thank's guys. He bought it cheap. Gunnels too high for me but runs good. Has a recess in the stern where the motor goes, prop like 12" below water. Tilt and trim works and my daughter likes it, so they're happy. They said go to hell, termo.

She's back to her old self. Burning the new tires off her Pontiac and spending my money. Thanks for asking.

Holler and we'll take it for test spin, Mr. Buddy. I may have to jar him out of it when I want to take 3 or 4 on a wading party.

it may be ok, as long as they are happy. I'd be careful of transom on older boat...It'll be after New Year...wading? Need waders for that ... Good luck tomorrow, should be good!

my twin brother and I bought a 93 predator about 7 months ago. Since then we've taken the boat out 20-25 times and sunk about 5 grand in repairs to the boat/trailer (about what it cost). Hopefully your brother-in-law does not have a similar experience and hopefully the trailer is better than the one that mine came with (about 1800 in trailer-related repairs). Here are some pros/cons to this boat

                            Pros:

engine is very simple, haven't really been any repairs related to the motor. Powers the boat pretty well, mine is 18 ft and can go about 30 miles an hour with 3 people on it.

My 18 ft boat (no jack plate) can draft VERY shallow, i've drafted at full speed in about 5 inches of water, no joke. Depending on how much weight you have on the boat, it can get up in about 14-16 inches of water.

                            Cons:
The boat is pretty versatile, however because of the hull design it does not handle chop very well. You will potentially get very wet and it can be a very rough ride. I no longer go to Trinity Bay/Upper Galveston, etc in my boat. I stick to West Bay and Chocolate.

It can be very difficult to start the motor at times. I've never been left stranded but there have been a couple times where I've been out there and couldn't start the motor for 15-20 minutes. This is some kind of ignition issue or something that I have been told on a number of occasions that they basically can't do anything about.

Our boat/trailer has been in the shop rougly 15 times. Every other trip there is some kind of repair needed. A lot of this has been trailer lights, etc. We bought the boat for about 5500 and have sunk about 4 grand in repairs, another 1500 in "improvements". No bueno. I would have been much better off financing a newer boat.

Gee whiz, I hope my son-in-law has better luck with his. My brother-in-law, like me, likes old whalers. I think son-in-law said he paid 2500.00 for his from a friend that even offered to finance it. Lol. I think the 90 evinrude is worth 2500 itself. He doesn't fish enough really to even need a boat but I'd never tell him that.
