As some know I have a '83 whaler. It's a 15' 5" original side console. I'm thinking about having a smaller version center console installed and a new gel coat job done. Anybody know who can help me with some info. Hopefully gator will chime in.

Get a decent stringer first .

Lol. The boats layed out with a lot of wasted area. Removing the bench seat would open it up for more room in the back. I like to fish back by the motor when fishing with a buddy. I'm nice that way as long as we're drifting. By my self I'm up front on the trolling motor.

Like Henry said....we'll need to do some stringer work for the new center console......I can do a lot of the work, but I'd rather beat myself in the head with a bat that do fiberglass work......and there's gonna be some needed. Truth is, I honestly don't think you've got the room to comfortably walk around a center console........I think you should trade that baby in on a Shearwater 22X with a 250 Evinrude E-TEC and keep it parked in my garage!

Your best two options would be Orlando's Fiberglass in Kemah or Angel's in Dickinson, my choice would be Orlando's. He knows whalers better than anyone around. The center console will work great on that boat. I converted my sons 13' whaler from a side console to a center console and he has a buddy that has 15' with the center console and I think you will be happy.

Henry's talking about a fish stringer, cabron. Not cutting a hole in the bottom of the boat.

I thought he was talking about a stringer to beef up the deck. I don't know that much about Whalers. DUUUUUUHHHH!
