  • Good Outdoorsman

I lost my Dad this last Monday after a long battle with cancer. He went peacefully with us around him at the ranch.
Dad grew up in Galveston and told many stories about hunting and fishing on what was then prairie on the West End. He hunted and fished all over Texas and in several countries. I was lucky to spend many miserable days in a duck blind in Rockport, of course he called it a "beautiful day for ducks".

Every trip with Dad was a good trip.

A lesson to be learned from him is to put your kids I-phones down and take them hunting and fishing. For one day they will be writing a post like this.

Sorry about your loss and for your family. Memories and dreams are the best thing to remember him by.
Try to remember his laugh and his voice, that's the things you will miss most. I sure miss mine.

My prayers are with you and your family for your loss and may God, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, lay His hands upon him and lead him into Heaven with open arms.

I know exactly how you are feeling, I lost my father back in 1999 three days before Christmas and he and I spent so many wonderful days and outings fishing, both salt and freshwater, duck and goose hunting, deer hunting and I taught him to trap coyotes which was a joy and an excitement due to his unethical way of going about it.

May God Bless you and yours!

Sorry to hear about your lose, prayers sent to you and your family. All I can tell you is, that you should feel blessed to have been able to fish and hunt with your father. All my dad does it work and is only hobby is watching TV in the evenings. I don't think we have ever fished or did any other outdoor activities beside riding a 3 wheeler back in the 80's! Yes, that tells you how long it has been.

Sorry about your DAD. He taught me how to hunt and fish also. His memory keeps on by teaching people how to enjoy the outdoors. My dad passed away in 1992 with cancer 1 month after his 66 birthday. Still remember the great times we enjoyed with each other. Your dad will keep living by you teaching others of how your dad taught you things that you will never forget. Lord Bless you and your family. Lord Bless.

sorry for your loss I lost my father this year too.. you made me chuckle about remembering the good trips and the bad trips to the great outdoors we're good too.like the time we were test subjects for Matagorda mosquitoes and the time we were hunting and the skunk used us for target practice.

sent from my taxpayer-funded sail phone and yes the government is tapped into my talk
